Mary Anne Melear, CPCC
I believe in creativity, collaboration, and the importance of making a positive impact.
Whether I'm coaching or writing, my job is to take my clients where they want to grow.
-
I believe in the power of words
to move people, move mountains…and move forward. I believe in being generous with ideas. And that sometimes the answers can be found in stillness.
-
I believe that a sense of humor is critical to getting through life intact.
That's why I try to laugh easily and often.
-
I believe that everything we need to know and do is already somewhere inside of us.
And that once we learn how to tap into that, anything is possible.
Headed on my mission-driven path
I started down a path toward doing good in the world – in social services – early in my career before realizing the uncomfortable implications of working for a non-profit – I literally couldn’t afford to buy lunch.
So, I made my first career change before I was 30, pivoting to another passion...movies worth watching.
I landed a position in marketing at Turner Classic Movies and for the next seven years I…
- discovered my love for the creative process
- worked with creative minds who taught me about the power of storytelling to new audiences
- learned to craft compelling narratives
- experienced the impact and the art of collaboration
- uncovered my love of writing
Shifted course to make meaningful money and uncovered CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION AND FLOW
While I learned so much – how to manage the creative process through the art of collaboration – I wanted more freedom beyond the corporate experience.
In 2004, I left TCM and started my solo-career as a copywriter. It was a leap of faith, but one that I have never regretted. I realized…
- the only way for me to expand my potential was to leave a job that no longer fit me.
Gathered my courage to jump without knowing how or where I’d land. Lived to tell about it.
I didn’t have a coach or a true mentor, but I had a lot of support from those who believed in me and I figured things out as I went.
- That process of letting go of the comfort and security of corporate life, enabled me to realize the power and freedom inherent in letting go of the things we think are keeping us safe.
Since I launched my writing business, I’ve been fortunate to partner with creative professionals and clients who’ve taught me so much about communication, collaboration and making an impact through these skills.
Cultivated my EQ without realizing it and uncovered an additional career. This time I didn’t switch, I expanded.
It’s the soft skills (good listening, non-judgement, trust, and insight) I’ve brought forth to coaching and consulting clients quite organically. As I began to follow this natural path, I realized the work I was doing was meaningful and impactful and I wanted to learn more about the process of supporting others’ growth.
Entered the Co-Active Training Institute with the goal of adding an acronym to my name and gained so much more.
I entered the Co-Active Training Institute coaching certification program to learn from experts in the field. In the process, I grew tremendously as an individual and my mission is to serve others through this same transformative process.
As my coaching practice continues to grow, I’m serving a diverse group of creative professionals who share a common trait – Courage. To explore what is truly meaningful to them, to take a stand for whatever that may be. Courage to make change.
Now, I balance my writing business with my coaching practice – both allow me to tap into the creative flow to serve others.
You’re smart, original, creative, independent, thoughtful, dedicated—and you are way more than your job title…or your career. Maybe you’re not sure if you can truly create a new way forward. I believe you can.
When you show up with a real commitment to affect change in your life, you’ve already made a shift forward.
From there you’re open to a fresh perspective, which can propel you to modify your actions and break barriers. I’ll provide ongoing support and accountability to make sure you stay on track and manifest the change you choose.
Now is the time to stop waiting and start creating.
